Happy Labor Day from The Press!

labor_dayToday the United States will celebrate our 132nd Labor Day holiday.  On behalf of myself and the entire staff at The Press, I want to say Happy Labor Day to all of you who have been loyal supporters over the years.  On this day, when we celebrate the hard work and contributions of American workers, lets take a moment to look back and reflect on the holiday and what it really means to us today.

Labor Day has historically been a day of relaxation.  A time when families can come together, enjoy one another’s company and take a break from the usual work atmosphere.   It is a recognition at the national level of the hard work and dedication put in on a day-to-day basis by the American people who make this nation great.

But it isn’t just about parades and BBQs… While many institutions close their doors altogether on this Holiday, others remain open to bring uninterrupted services to our busy nation. Does this mean those employees have less value or are somehow not appreciated for what they do? Of course not.   No matter how you and your family are spending this labor day, it is your day and know that your efforts and time are valued. It may not always feel this way when we focus on earthly things but never forget the teaching of Matthew:

Matthew 10:29-31 (NIV) “29 Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care. 30 And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. 31 So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.”

sparrowIsn’t it amazing to have the assurance that our Father in Heaven will never overlook us or underestimate our worth?  That we don’t have to beg for worldly recognition because He knew before we were born what our worth would be?

Although we don’t have the perspective of the Father, I’m sure I can speak not only for New Leaf Publishing Group but for our authors and partners when I say we want to convey a huge thanks to all of you, our hard-working fans for the dedication, loyalty and integrity you’ve shown over the years in support of our ministry.

From myself, I want to take a moment to be grateful for all of the effort and love that has gone into The Press since it’s foundation in 1975.  The years of sacrifice, the willingness to be obedient to God’s calling, and the plain and simple hard work that have been poured into New Leaf Publishing Group are the reasons I am here today, writing to you… thank you… thanking God for the opportunity to do so.
